StartOS Service Packaging
Get your open-source application onto StartOS, packaged properly, verified on real hardware, and maintained as upstream moves.
StartOS users can install software with one click, but only software someone has packaged for it. If you maintain an open-source project and want it in front of self-hosters, I can build and maintain the StartOS package for you.
What you get
A package that behaves the way StartOS users expect: it installs cleanly, reports its health, backs up and restores, exposes the right settings as simple actions, and upgrades from one version to the next without losing data. Every build is tested by installing it and using it on a real StartOS server, not only by checking that it compiles.
How it works
- Scoping: we look at how your application is deployed today and what a StartOS package needs from it.
- Build and verify: I package it and test it end to end on real hardware.
- Release: documentation, then submission to the Start9 community registry.
- Maintenance (optional): I keep the package current as you ship new releases.

Questions people ask
Do you need to change our application?
Usually not. A StartOS package wraps your published release or container image. When a change is needed, I propose it upstream rather than keep a private fork.
Who maintains the package afterwards?
Your choice. I can hand it over with documentation, or keep it current as you release new versions.
